Nine states hold roughly twelve thousand nuclear weapons between them, and the treaties built to constrain them have been abandoned one by one. The Atomic Spectacle returns to the age of testing — Bikini, Semipalatinsk, Maralinga, Moruroa, Nevada — when the consequences of these weapons were measured on real islands, real deserts and real people, and when what the public was told rarely matched what the record showed. Circus Bazaar publishes this series in support of the global movement against nuclear war, and in the conviction that the case is strongest when the evidence is allowed to speak for itself.
